This session is for people who may have some experience using data, but have never used Stata or microdata before.

Attendees will learn the basics of using Stata for microdata analysis.

This session is for people who may have some experience using data, but have never used Stata or microdata before.

Learning outcomes include:

1. Understanding what Stata is and how it differs from excel;

2. Key data concepts: variables, observations, tabular data, missing values, survey weights;

3. Basic Stata commands;

4. What microdata is, focusing on the Current Population Survey (CPS) and American Community Survey(ACS);

5. Basic analysis with microdata.

Who should join? Anyone who is interested in using Stata is welcome. Ideal candidates are those who have zero or limited experience using Stata or those who want a refresher course.
